Thursdays are for throwbacks, so here we go!
These pictures are from one of Diego’s first rides with the double bridle. You can probably spot that the curb rein is very loose, which is of course for a reason. Also I figured out that I need longer curb reins, because these in size Full clearly wasn’t long enough!
Before you ask; yes I forgot my bellboots and did the awkward dressage style wrap instead. My own boots are the Mountain Horse Sovereign boot – not sponsored and quite frankly I had to sell them because they didn’t offer me enough support, but oh boy I love the look of them! I have to find something similar soon.
This little spring dressage session happened in April 2017, and I remember it as a very good session. Diego figured out a lot regarding the fact that I indeed COULD ride him like normal on the bridoon, and after some trial and error he dared to give me some contact back too.
I can see all the way from here how annoyed I am about the stirrup/boot/leg-situation.
And it didn’t get a lot better when warming up without stirrups, look at those legs fly x)
Attempting to get that inside leg slightly more underneath. Diego says he’d rather not.
Me: “Hey Diego, heads up, back to work!” Diego: “NOOOOO see; look; I need to stretch thiiiis far, see?”
Oh hey look, nice example of a fake god-awful collection.
This is however looking kinda good…
Racer pony racing away from responsibilities (trot fast enough and we’re good, right?)
And a perfect example of a horse loosening up his neck.
And then some proof of me actually picking up both reins at some point. He dropped his ribcage here so my seat is a bit all over the place.
Hope you have a wonderful thursday and that you manage to throw in a little bit of throwback yourself! Maybe now’s the time to scroll through your Instagram, or find an old folder to look through?
